Years ago, copy editors worked at large U-shaped tables. The chief editor's desk, in the opening of the "U," was "the slot." Copy went from rim editors to a slot editor for a final read. Rimmers proudly called themselves rimrats.

I can't believe it was taken to this level. It shows that these media outlets care more about pressure from political figures and audience ratings than free speech. Imus make have been in the wrong with his comments, but his career has been built on pushing the envelope.
I have a feeling that his ratings will now go through the roof, and I wouldn't be surprised if he gets picked up elsewhere for a $50 million contract. The publicity might be cruel now, but for those who have never heard Imus before will soon be tuning in to see what he says next. It reminds me of the Kate Moss situation where her drug use had her dropped by numerous clients but her star power went up and she is now making somewhere need double her previous salary.
I guess good luck to Imus and power to those who get knocked down only to be twice the figure they were before.
